Why We Formed

There was no specific support for Jewish Bereaved Parents in Victoria (or the rest of Australia).

The Compassionate Friends (in Balwyn), is part of a worldwide program offering support for any bereaved parent or sibling. Yet we felt that a specific Jewish branch of this service is required and TCF understand this and are encouraging and guiding us with all their experience.

In our community, when our child dies, we need support from those who not only understand about the loss through death, but also understand our Jewish rituals, attitudes and idiosyncrasies.

We cater for all Jewish bereaved, no matter what level of belief or involvement with Judaism, as long as they feel the need to turn to us for support.

Our aim is to unite Jewish Bereaved Parents, and try to help them in their long journey to recover and regain some sense of normalcy in their life.
